Fugro’s Geotechnical Division in Hong Kong operated across some of the most demanding project environments in the Asia-Pacific region. Between 2010 and 2015 I managed a concurrent portfolio of geotechnical, GIS, and geo-analytical projects for clients spanning government agencies, private developers, and major energy companies including BP, ExxonMobil, and Total. At any given time I was responsible for five to fifteen active projects across Hong Kong, Malaysia, Vietnam, and West Papua.
The work required managing budgets, contracts, and technical requirements across a team of twelve professional staff while presenting findings to clients monthly and representing the firm at conferences across four continents. Clients ranged from Hong Kong’s Geotechnical Engineering Office to international energy companies operating in remote and technically complex environments.
The most significant single engagement during this period was a geotechnical and GIS scope within a 25 million dollar LNG plant expansion project for BP in West Papua, Indonesia. That project required engineering geology team leadership, supervision of borehole data and geospatial analysis, 3D modeling, and delivery of a 168-page geotechnical and geophysical review report in an intense tropical environment with significant logistical complexity.
Alongside client delivery I led in-house innovation in LiDAR applications for geotechnical practice, developed and delivered four internal training programs, and represented Fugro at 16 government regulatory review panels, achieving the highest first-submission approval rating among all staff.
